Documentary Film Seeks US Veteran Stories

Veterans logo lr2PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 19, 2011 – DENVER, Colo., July 19, 2011 – Internationally acclaimed news photographer and independent documentary filmmaker John C. P. Goheen has set out to produce a full-length documentary that chronicles the compelling stories of America’s veterans this coming Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2011.

Titled, “A Day in the Life of America’s Veterans 11.11.11,” it will be filmed on November 11th across the country and around the world by volunteer still and video photojournalists. Individual stories featured in the documentary will showcase men and women who devoted a portion of their lives to serve our country in times of war and peace. All the stories will be filmed in one day, on 11.11.11.

Goheen said, “We want stories that are not typical. They are out there, but we have to dig deep to find them. While some folks will cover the day’s ceremonial events of 11.11.11, we really want stories that are extraordinary.

“Whether it’s your own story, a family member’s or a neighbor’s, we want to hear from people from all 50 states and from around the world, anywhere American veterans live.”

Anyone interested in contributing story ideas can do so by visiting the website at www.veterans111111.com, and submitting the form on the “Contact Us” page.  The deadline to submit story ideas is September 1, 2011.

“Everyone involved with this project should understand that the contributions made will serve to make a difference in not just one veteran’s life but countless others. This project has the potential to impact not only veterans, but family members, neighbors and citizens from around the world,“ added Goheen.

All submitted ideas will be considered and evaluated by the executive producers to avoid duplication and to ensure that all documentary elements are captured.  After the screening process, photojournalists, chosen from the contributor pool, will be assigned to shoot specific stories on November 11.

This not-for-profit documentary has been made possible with the generous support of Loyola University Chicago; Moots Productions; Network Nirvana; Terranova Pictures, LLC; Pat Woodard Productions; and the World Witness Project.

Goheen said he and his team of executive producers are exploring additional funding sources and in-kind services as well as opportunities for national broadcast and distribution.  A release date for the documentary is scheduled during Armed Forces Week, May 12-20, 2012.
