FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ms. Chang accepts award on behalf of Mr. LeeMs. Chang accepts award on behalf of Mr. LeePRLog (Press Release) – Jul 14, 2011 – Gil Woo Lee, from South Korea, was awarded First Prize at 2nd City Council Art Gallery's AMERICA exhibition in Los Angeles on Saturday, July 9th.
This news follows Gil Woo Lee's successful United States solo debut in New York City just months ago, and his Grand Prize award at the 14th Asian Art Biennial in Bangladesh last October.
"From Beijing to New York and now California, we are thrilled to see Lee's art inspire new visions of a growing global, cultural conversation." Said Sobin Chang, Managing Partner of IRIS Management Consulting Group, LLC.
On display at 2nd City Council, Lee's two works from his Dance In Nature series, Obama and Lincoln, have garnered further appreciation in the United States.  Superimposed with the Warhol-esque portraits of the two American presidents are traditional Oriental dancers. The exhibition was juried by Alexander Salazar, esteemed Harvard alumnus, Art Critic, Historian, and respected Art Dealer.
The series has been said to symbolize the artist's appreciation for Nature through body movement or dancing; however, a greater message is being displayed.  In considering the traditional dancers with the tradition-shattering presidents-- the simplified pop-art representations with the traditional Hanji medium-- these superimpositions lead the viewer to a new melding of cultural appreciation; a dance between these combined symbols; -1241047062  the dance of culture.

Gil Woo Lee’s works are currently represented exclusively by IRIS Management Consulting Group, LLC in the United States and globally. For more information on Gil Woo Lee’s works, visit www.ArtsPerSe.com.
