Ordinary Man in Extraordinary Circumstances Featured in 'Notorious Casolini' and 'Terror in Black'

Angelo CrapanzanoPRLog (Press Release) – Jul 19, 2011 – The vicious vendettas of turn-of-the-century Sicily form the basis of Notorious Casolini, a novel based on true events. This exciting book will take you back to a time when a man fighting for his family had to break all the rules.

The story begins in Barrafranca, Sicily, in the early 1900s. A simple farmer named Peppino Casolini is dedicated to his family, but his honor is compromised when the son of the mayor makes advances to Casolini’s younger sister. After she spurns her rich and powerful suitor, the trouble begins.

Instead of pursuing his life as a farmer, fate has other plans in store for Casolini. The ruling class of the city has turned all its power against Casolini’s family, with deadly results. From their position of privilege, the mighty never imagined that a lowly, gentle man would rise up against them in furious vengeance.

Author Angelo Crapanzano builds on the historic facts known of Peppino Casolini to weave a compelling tale of passion, honor, and dishonor. The shocking conclusion will explain the “notorious” in Notorious Casolini.

A Suspense-Filled Novel about an Ordinary Man Thrown Into Extraordinary Circumstances

Angelo Crapanzano’s Terror in Black and White is a heart pounding thrill-ride of a suspense novel.

Andrew Anderson is an ordinary guy with a pretty lucrative job as an electronics engineer. Life is good but, for the most part, uneventful for Andrew -- that is until the day he meets her.

Andrew is driving home from an exhausting meeting one day and witnesses an accident.  This isn’t just any ordinary accident, but one that looks as if it’s intentional and meant to kill. As he watches in disbelief, a truck forces a car off the road and it plunges over the cliff.  After the truck leaves, Andrew stops and finds a young African American woman, who obviously jumped from the car, hanging on for dear life.  Andrew pulls the woman to safety and, in that moment, his ordinary life becomes quite chaotic.

The woman tells Andrew she witnessed a brutal crime. Her pursuers are city officials who want to make sure she doesn’t let anyone know about what she witnessed. Too many power brokers would have blood on their hands.

Andrew agrees to help the woman and the two find themselves being ruthlessly tracked by private police who seem to be able to figure out their every move, despite their best efforts.  Who is letting the authorities know their movements -- how are they able to track them and what exactly did the woman witness?

Crapanzano’s fast paced novel has all the elements of a first rate suspense -- an admirable protagonist, a heroine with secrets she can’t reveal and chase scenes that leave the reader on edge.  With riveting twists and turns, Terror in Black and White has a surprise ending you won’t see coming!

Rep. Michele Bachmann Right on the Facts, Wrong Messenger for Black America

Sophia A. Nelson, author, women’s advocate, political pundit and a longtime moderate Republican weighs in on Michele Bachmann/GOP controversial comments about state of black family

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 15, 2011 – Best-selling Author, Women’s Advocate & Political Pundit Sophia A. Nelson, a longtime moderate Republican weighed in on the Michele Bachmann controversy that has been the focus of media attention, The View (http://www.businessinsider.com/michele-bachmann-petition ...), and the 2012 Presidential Race.

Nelson’s reaction comes at a time when The Family Leader, an Iowa-based Christian conservative organization, asked the GOP presidential candidates to sign a pledge, “The Marriage Vow – A Declaration of Dependence Upon Marriage and Family”, which originally stated the following:“sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA’s first African-American President.” The organization later retracted this statement from the original pledge, but Nelson agrees with the factual context of the pledge, and devotes Chapter 2 in her new book, which is titled, “Our Context from Slavery to the White House: Why It Still Matters,” to addressing some of the very issues raised in the pledge and about the current economic plight of black Americans.

Here’s an excerpt from Nelson’s statement responding to Rep. Bachmann and this “marriage’ pledge, which can be read in full via her blog at
http://www.iaskinc.org/blog/sophiaanelson/?p=660.

Ms. Bachmann and her GOP cohorts were no doubt misguided with how they expressed this marriage pledge and their tacit referral to blacks being better off in 1860 was ridiculous at best taken out of context. But put into its proper context, the black family unit (defining that unit is a discussion in and of itself) ironically (and sadly) was in many ways more intact during the horrific and ugly institution of slavery and post-reconstruction than it is today. That is a very different discussion for us to have than the one that is being bandied about now about whether or not blacks were better off during slavery or in 1860.

Last month, Nelson’s 1st non-fiction book release, "Black Woman Redefined: Dispelling the Myths and Discovering Fulfillment in the Age of Michele Obama” became an instant Amazon & Barnes and Noble best-seller.  In her groundbreaking book she uses proprietary national research and real-life stories to reveal what drives and perpetuates common myths and misconceptions of black women, and how the current economy is playing havoc on the black family emotionally, relationally and otherwise.

Nelson, recognized for the past decade for her passionate, but “common sense approach” to politics and issues as an On-Air analyst for MSNBC, CNN, FOX, BET and other cable networks is available for interviews and commentary to set the record straight on this very important issue to the longevity of the black family. Nelson who was a GOP Congressional candidate in 1996 at the age of 29, is founder and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of “I Am My Sister’s Keeper, Inc.”, a 7-year-old professional -1241339415  black women’s advocacy organization that provides life skills support to more than 3,000-women around the world (see www.iaskinc.org ). Nelson is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. sorority, the oldest Greek lettered organization for African-American women in America.
